Florida DOC Proposes Rule to Prevent Prisoners from Educating the Public about Conditions

The Florida Department of Corrections (DOC) has decided NOT to address abuse of deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, elderly and disabled prisoners.  Instead, the DOC has proposed a regulation that will prevent prisoners from using the internet to educate the public about what horrors are occuring behind its iron gates (prohibiting even the use of the internet on behalf of prisoners through advocates or organizations like HEARD).

As such, HEARD is re-sharing this report from May about the DOC’s continued human and civil rights abuses and reminding everyone that these same abuses continue and have only worsened since this report. 

HEARD’s message to the Florida Department of Corrections: We will stop writing about the DOC when it stops abusing and allowing others to abuse people under your care.  Do the right thing!
