March 2016 Updates
- On March 24th, HEARD joined the #WhyISign Campaign. This campaign was started by Stacey Abrams to promote the use of ASL within families. Our volunteers from across the nation explained why we use sign language. Click here to see the video.
- On March 19th, HEARD Board Member, Scott Huffman presented to a group of interpreters and Deaf individuals from Hawaii. Scott provided two day’s worth of informative on #DeafAccesstoJustice & #DeafInPrison. Click here for photos & information.
- On March 15th, HEARD’s Rochester volunteers teamed up with RIT/NTID Student Life Team & NTID Step Up Mentor Program to present a “Know Your Rights” Workshop to Deaf, DeafBlind, DeafDisabled and Hard of Hearing students, staff and faculty. Click here to see photos & learn more.
- On March 5th, HEARD shared news that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has agreed to install videophones in its prisons. Click here to see our captioned ASL video.
