The School to Prison Pipeline for Children of Color with Disabilities

HEARD founder Talila "TL" Lewis, invited to attend the historic National Council on Disability & Disability Rights Education Fund landmark round table meeting, "Breaking the School to Prison Pipeline for Children of Color with Disabilities." The meeting brought together civil rights and disability rights leaders from across the nation for an action-centered dialoge about ending the school to prison pipeline for students with disabilities.

HEARD Provides Training to Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.

HEARD Founder Talila "TL" Lewis & HEARD Deaf Community Liaison Jason "JT" Tozier provided a training at the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. headquarters. The training was described by some RID employees as "life changing." Our newest intern Katie Giles also joined and contributed wonderfully to the dialogue.

HEARD Honored by DC United

D.C. United honored HEARD as Nonprofit of the Match which event photos can be found here. Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf purchased more than fifteen tickets, inviting their family and friends to show their support for HEARD’s efforts and solidarity. Also, Jason “JT” Tozier has signed the National Anthem in front of the crowd along with support of ShayTaylor for the amazing performance.
